Eating out in the Scottish Borders

Eating out in the Scottish Borders

So we are slightly spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and cafes in the Scottish borders. Melrose in particular is full of places to eat and drink.

The Hoebridge Inn

This is a family-run restaurant which creates small seasonal menus that change each month. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet laid back and they make great cocktails. Definitely worth a visit – absolutely love it:

The Provander

We find ourselves going to the Provander a lot. The staff are really friendly and attentive, and we just love the relaxed vibe it offers from the moment you walk in. The food is great, although we find it extremely hard to go past their exceptionally good Cheeseburger…

The Heathers Seafood Restaurant

Ok so do not let looks deceive you. Celia is allergic to Shellfish but Patrick loves this place. The seafood is incredible and could not be fresher. It is all local and probably off the boat that morning. It is all fantastic, but the Scallops, Scampi and King Prawns are the showstoppers. To top it all off, it has one of the best views in the Borders.

The Mainstreet Trading Company

St Boswells is a beautiful borders town and this bookshop and café is a really fun place to go for lunch, especially with kids.

The Cross Inn, Paxton

This family friendly pub in Paxton has the most friendly and accommodating staff and a great atmosphere. It is even better on a winters evening when the fire is lit.

The Allanton Inn

A great pub for enjoying both food and drinks with a relaxed atmosphere and the large beer garden makes it a favourite of ours for enjoying summer days.
