Seahouses is a prominent village located on the North Northumberland coast in England, approximately 12 miles north of Alnwick. Situated within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Seahouses attracts numerous visitors, primarily from the northeast region, but also from national and international destinations. Many tourists visit Seahouses while exploring the Northumberland National Park, the Northumberland Coast, and the Farne Islands.
Seahouses features a functioning fishing port that also caters to the tourist trade, serving as the departure point for trips to the Farne Islands. Several boat companies operate from the town’s shops and booths along the harbour, offering various packages. These may include landing on one or more of the Farne Islands, observing seals and seabirds, listening to commentary about the islands and the Grace Darling story, or scuba diving among the many wrecks surrounding the Farne Islands. Additionally, Grace Darling’s brother, who passed away in 1903 at the age of 84, is buried in the cemetery at nearby North Sunderland.
There are many options for dining in Seahouses, the most popular are Seahouses famous fish and chips which is easy quick and is always delicious, but if you’re looking for more of a sit-down meal, we love The Ocean Club. The Ocean Club’s menus have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, but it isn’t just a food place, The Ocean Club also has a 20m swimming pool with a kid’s pool attached, a sauna, steam room and a spa included a gym. There are also many fitness classes and beauty treatments available.

There are also lots of family friendly activities to take part in, in Seahouses. The bunker is popular location with young kids because there is a soft playas well as a nd a few hours cruising around the islands, if diner and a mini golf course. Serenity Farne Island Boat tours or Billy Shiels Farne Island Boat Trips are also popular with visitors. Both offer trips sailing around the Farne Islands with a full live commentary about the story of Grace Darling and her rescue, and you often see amazing bird life as well as seals. There is also the option to go further afield to Holy Island – a longer trip but dolphins are often spotted swimming alongside the boat.
Seahouses is known for its stunning coastline and great beach that stretches all the way to Bamburgh and beyond. The Seahouses harbour also has a smaller beach where the RNLI launches the lifeboat from which stretches towards the lovely village of Beadnell and the golf course.
