Area Insights
St Boswells lies in the heart of the Scottish Borders, close to Melrose, Tweedbank Train Station and the Borders General Hospital. The village lies on the banks of the River Tweed and is framed around a pretty village green. St Boswells is a thriving village with a wholesome community offering a wide range of events and things to do, from fishing on the Tweed to Historical attractions. Although many of the border towns offer national conveniences like Sainsbury’s, M&S and Morrison’s supermarkets there are some truly fantastic local suppliers on the doorstep that would love your support including a local butcher, the renowned Buccleuch Arms Hotel & Restaurant and the award-winning Main Street Trading Company bookshop and café. The village is also just off the A68 giving easy access north to Edinburgh and south to Newcastle and has excellent bus services throughout the Borders and up into Edinburgh.

Excellent schooling is readily available with the village primary school a short walk across the green, and Earlston High School nearby, whilst private schooling is available at St Mary’s in Melrose and Longridge Towers near Berwick-upon-Tweed and in Edinburgh beyond.
The area has many historical attractions to explore like Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott, the Abbey in Melrose or Floors Castle and Gardens in Kelso to name a few. The area offers some fantastic sporting pursuits including cycling, bowls, curling, golf, hill walking and fishing on the River Tweed, arguably the most famous salmon river in the world. In general, the Borders offer excellent riding facilities with Ian Stark Equestrian Centre only 10 miles away and the annual Common Riding which takes place throughout the Borders
